A Trip on MV Swift
People have been enjoying boat trips on Windermere since the early 1900s and while the means of transport have changed over the past one hundred and twenty years the enjoyment of seeing the Lake District from the water remains magical. This historic way of enjoying the most beautiful part of the National Park remains hugely popular for people of all ages and can be a wonderful part of your sustainable journey while staying at Langdale with regular return sailings from Waterhead.
Continuing the long tradition of passenger craft our good friends at Windermere Lake Cruises launched their latest vessel, MV Swift last year and some of the team at Langdale were lucky enough to have a behind the scenes tour and what an impressive craft she is.
Next time you are visiting the Lakes be sure to seek out a trip on MV Swift, not only a quintessential experience but also the very best way to sit back and enjoy the backdrop of the iconic mountains, wooded shoreline and fantastic scenery which is often missed from any other angle.
You can join cruises from Waterhead, Ambleside which can take you to Bowness Bay and Lakeside, where you can combine your trip with a journey on the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Heritage Steam Railway. Windermere Lake Cruises operate regular services all year-round, (with the exception of Christmas Day) with more than 100 daily sailings at the height of the summer season.
