Autumn Forest Walk
Autumn Forest Walk
in Grizedale
Sheltered by a blanket of trees, surrounded by an abundance of nature, with views overlooking mountain ranges and lakes, Grizedale Forest provides the perfect place for any day out. It’s 24.47 km² area of woodland offers a variety of walking and biking trails, hills and even tarns to explore.
Taking the popular Millwood Trail, this route takes you along the river, by some of the oldest trees within the forest and under the impressive Go Ape course. A shorter, low level route, this walk would suit those who are looking for a relaxed stroll out. Although only a short walk, it is a lovely way to see the magic of the forest and take in the beautiful surroundings, including the small waterfall you pass.
As the leaves change during Autumn, Grizedale Forest embodies stunning colours of burnt orange, deep reds and amber tones. This is my favourite time of year to get out for a fresh walk to take in the beautiful Lake District scenery. The crunch of the fallen leaves as you walk, combined with the brisk air and warm colours creates a charming setting for an adventure.
With trees in every direction, and even some unique sculptures to check out, the looping route takes you back to your start point where you can finish off your day by getting a bite to eat or drink at the onsite café, or venture down to one of nearby cafés or pubs in the quaint village of Hawkshead.
There are many other walks which can all be found via the Forestry England website, including information about the intensity and lengths of each walk and maps of the routes. Whether you’re looking for a gentle stroll or maybe something a bit more adventurous to get your heart rate going, there are a range of walking routes to suit everyone at Grizedale.Location -
