Staying Safe at Langdale

Working together to help each other

We have been working and planning hard for our 4th July re-opening and have the safety and welfare of our guests, staff and the local community at the heart of everything we do.  Following the very latest Government guidelines, we have implemented a range of new procedures for check-in and check-out, housekeeping, dining and how guests are able to enjoy themselves and get the most from their time with us.

1 - Checking In and Checking Out

When checking in and checking out there will be a number of options for the way you can arrive, depart and access your accommodation to keep everyone safe and distanced set out below.

Checking in

We can send your key to your chosen mobile device(s) which means you can then proceed directly to your accommodation if you have been before and know where to go. You can still get a key on your phone and on arrival we can take you straight to your accommodation – with no need to enter the reception building.

Timeshare and self-catering guests can provide a specific time of arrival and we will place keys in the accommodation and leave the door unlocked at in time for your arrival. Don’t forget to let us know if you are running late or early.

For those of you who want the traditional approach, there will be a single check in desk with a member of the team safely positioned behind their perspex screen with a plentiful supply of hand sanitiser at the ready. They will be happy to check you in or out as we used to but please be aware there might be a socially distanced queue! 

For everyone, there will be team members on hand across the site who’ll be more than happy to help you whenever you need it.

Checking out

All you need to do is say goodbye and start planning your next visit to the Lake District, give us a big wave and a shout out on your way out. If you have to pay for anything just call with the CSV number on the back of the card you made the booking with and it’ll all be sorted.

Old school goodbyes are always available from a member of the team along with more hand sanitiser. The option to pay with cash will no longer be available.

All accommodation at Langdale is cleaned to the highest possible standard.  Additional attention will be paid to certain areas to keep everyone safe.

Langdale Self Catering cleaning guide

We have taken some accommodation out of service or reduced the length of stay where appropriate to ensure that the team have more time and space to work and achieve the enhanced cleaning procedures. Hand sanitiser will be in all accommodation and each self-catering unit will have a cleaning kit for anyone that wants to have a go at being a Langdale housekeeper.

We ask all guests where possible to keep their accommodation well ventilated and certainly leave the windows open when you depart.

Along with 2 fogging machines the housekeeping team are tooled up with industry leading cleaning chemicals and products to make sure everyone is as safe as houses.

Public Spaces

The cleaning of public spaces mainly takes place when you are asleep (or in bed at least) this will still happen, but you’ll also see more cleaners doing what they do best during the day. We’ll do this with discretion, but safety will be our priority.

We’ll also do our best not to spoil your experience at Langdale but for the foreseeable future additional cleaning during opening hours will be a thing we will have to embrace.  

3 - Contactless Payment

Cash will no longer be accepted across the site including Wainwrights Inn. Guests staying on site will be able to charge to their room and pay on departure (see above) or use any form of contactless payment.

Ordering food and drinks can be done from your own mobile device including payment at the time of ordering.

4 - Spa and Fitness & Leisure

Unfortunately, the government’s latest guidelines mean that even from 4th July we will not be allowed to re-open the spa or leisure facilities.  However, we’ll be ready to do so as soon as we get the go ahead. 

5 - Restaurants and Bars

Tasty new Takeaway Treats and Room Service sustenance will be available throughout the site.  For self-catering and timeshare accommodation we’ll be launching our very own chef-made Langdale Favourites and all you’ll have to do is pop them in the oven and get another glass of wine. Ordering and paying from your own device will make it almost too easy.

We will continue to prepare Stove and Wainwrights' for opening within the new guidelines for table service only as soon as we’re absolutely confident we can deliver this safely.

6 - Communications

We are pretty good with the elimination of paper at Langdale and this is a great time to go all the way. Before your stay all information will be sent by email at least twice. 

7 - Staff and Partners

Our team have all been trained in new ways of working in order to keep themselves and everyone who visits Langdale safe. 

We’re all having our temperature checked before we even start work and we’re giving our teams the time to ask as many questions as possible so that they’re absolutely confident with our new workplace practices.  There’s a lot to take in including one way-systems, PPE and social distancing but everyone is super keen to get back to working.  All our Risk Assessments and training are in line with the most up to date government guidance.

We’re also working alongside a number of trusted partners such as Ecolab our chemical specialists who provide all our WHO recommended cleaning products which are used site-wide.  We’re also making sure that partners and suppliers own Risk Assessments and practices dovetail with our own. 

8 - Cancellation Policy

Langdale Hotel

At Langdale we have always tried to be as fair as possible on each and every situation where someone needs to cancel a booking. Our best available rate can be cancelled up to 24 hours prior to arrival.  Where payment terms were that payment was made at the time of the booking we can move your booking to a new date as many times as necessary, not just now but any time in the future. Refunds can be given where any traveller is not able to travel due to government restrictions.

Langdale Self Catering

Langdale acts as an agent taking self-catering bookings on behalf of timeshare owners and therefore the ability to be flexible with cancellations is different to that with hotel rooms. We will always do our best to find a solution which is fair to both the bookers and our clients the accommodation owners. Where a government restriction on travel exists refunds will be given

9 - The Future

No one knows what the future holds ….it’s an age-old cliché, but seems to be more true than ever right now.  One thing is for certain, we will be here to offer the best (and safest) possible experience for you whilst you’re visiting the Lake District.
