Why exercise classes should be a part of your weekly fitness routine…

Although many view exercising as simply working up a sweat, getting fit and burning calories, exercising can be an ideal way to combine your social life with upping your fitness. Both of these are important elements to everyday life and combining the two allows you to work on both your physical and mental wellbeing. And how better to do this than with a group exercise class?

Exercise classes allow individuals to go beyond just losing weight and reaching their fitness goals, but they offer a range of physical and mental benefits through social and cognitive elements.

The healthy, energised atmosphere that exercise classes provide is the perfect hub to complete your workout, and here’s why.

They Provide Structure

Occurring at a set time, on a set day, exercise classes allow you to plan your fitness regime around your day to day life. Whether you struggle with consistency or are a precise planner, fitting in your workout could never be easier when you can structure your day, week and month around your class.

Along with this, majority of exercises classes require you to book in advance. Not only does this ensure your place, but it means you’re less likely to skip it or decide last minute that you’re not feeling up to it, helping you keep on track and accomplish those all important fitness goals.

Access to Instructor Expertise

We all know how easy it can be to get lost in the gym, and it can become quite overwhelming at first. But with the guidance of a certified instructor, you can put your faith in their knowledge and expertise, knowing that you’ll get the most from your workout. If you’re a beginner, or just looking to learn a new exercise to implement into your own workouts, instructors are on hand throughout all exercise classes to offer any advice you may need.

A Sense of Community

The feeling of working out in a group is somewhat irreplaceable. Surrounded by like-minded individuals with mutual goals not only provides a way to socialise about fitness but provides the ultimate motivation. Whether you have a competitive streak, or you need to be encouraged, push yourself beyond your perceived limit with the help of others. Providing increased self-esteem, energy levels, encouragement and a sense of community, exercise classes boast a warming social environment. And, it’s also pretty fun!

A New Way of Fitness

If you’re someone who gets bogged down in the same gym routine time and time again, why not try something new and explore other ways of exercise? Add variety to your fitness routine and venture out into new approaches and techniques, whether this be with a calming yoga class to rejuvenate or working up a sweat in a HIIT class.

Increased Health Benefits

As previously mentioned, exercise classes amplify a range of health benefits, both physical and mental. Whilst increasing fitness, losing weight and building muscle are usually the primary motives of those who work out, many forget exercise is much more than that, especially when it comes to group exercise.

Improving energy levels and self-esteem, the energised atmosphere of an exercise class helps to boost morale, motivation and also creates a social scene, an element which contributes to the overall wellbeing of the human body.
