Car Free Activities
Langdale encourages car free activities by providing relevant information for guests and visitors along with secure car parking for while guests are off site

There are many car free activities and off site in close proximity to Langdale. Contact the Spa reception for more details. There is a public bus service which stops outside the resort, timetable available from reception.

Langdale works with partners such as Jennings and Friends of the Lake District to encourage use of public transport -

Staff Travel
A staff bus service is available from Workington and Kendal. Other members of staff are encouraged to car share and we participate in the Cycle to Work Scheme.

Natural and Cultural Heritage Initiatives
As part of Langdale's commitment to preserve the cultural heritage of the site information is provided at numerous locations including in the guest information in every room.
The heritage of the site is actively promoted on and off line with a Gunpowder Walk and information about the Estate's History. Langdale support the Kurt Schwitters project and the Amitt Trust

Langdale promotes natural heritage on site and supports local partners who preserve and promote natural heritage such as the National Park Authority, Friends of the Lake District, The National Trust and many more.

Nature Diary
Langdale asks guests to log sightings of a variety of wildlife. Results are collated to assist with nature conservation. The Nature Diary is available from Gateway, Spa and main reception in a Nature Diary.
During your visit please take the time to complete the Nature Diary and assist us in preserving and enhancing Langdale's nature conservation
Native Tree Planting
We have a native tree planting policy.
We have recently planted 2 new native hedges and 100 trees at Birch Wood.

Due to its location and size the Langdale Estate is home to a variety of wildlife habitat and actively promotes their preservation and enhancement.

Some of the buildings at Langdale date back to the time when much of the estate was a gunpowder factory. The Gunpowder Walk is a fascinating way to see how some of the existing buildings have been converted. Details are available from reception or online.

Langdale has a responsibility to residents and visitors to the Langdale Valley to minimise light pollution and we are bound by strict planning regulations.
Environmental Policy

The management of Light pollution is an important part of Langdale commitment limit impact to the local environment.

Accessibility to nature
