Langdale Leisure Limited Access Statement
Introduction
We are a 56 bedroom hotel situated in the Langdale
Valley in the heart of the Lake District. We aim to set out our
current
facilities
and services on offer to enable all visitors to make an informed
decision as to whether we meet your particular access needs.
Pre-Arrival
We have phone, fax and email availability for pre arrival information.
Website Accessibility
Printed, e-mailable and website versions available. Printed available
in large format.
Information regarding public transport is available
via our website to Stagecoach and all major train services to the
area.
General Information
Distance to nearside town, Ambleside 5 miles.
We offer a collection service for residential
guests in the local area Windermere and Ambleside.
We offer a delivery of provisions service for
residential guests, dependant upon request.

Arrival & Car Parking Facilities
The main hotel car park holds 40 vehicles.
To the rear of the hotel there are two designated disabled parking
spaces adjacent to the designated disabled access to the hotel
where there are no steps and the ground is paved.
The access entrance has an automated door with self closer. Width
880mm.
Concierge is available for valet parking if required.
Assistance with luggage and equipment or guidance and concierge
service is available.
There is a call bell situated at the designated disabled access
if assistance is required.
Height of call bell from the floor 815mm. Main
Entrance & Reception
From the designated disabled access there are no steps to the main
entrance and reception. The designated disabled access doorway
width is 900mm wide x 2.
Moving through the hotel from the designated disabled access the
first door is the hotel lounge door which is 770mm wide, the link
corridor double doors are 825mm each. The middle link corridor
door is 1000mm wide, before reaching the Country Club desk there
is an automatic sliding glass door, the width of which is 960mm.
The front desk can be found at the top of the slight incline and
to the left.
There is a seating area at Reception with hotel lounge nearby.
Registration can be completed whilst sitting in reception area
and we have clip boards available.
A portable Induction Loop is available upon request.
Registration card can be enlarged if required and guidance with
completion is available if required.
Reception is manned 24 hours a day, 7 days per week.
Public Areas - General (Internal)
Braille signs (the dimensions of which are all 300 x 150 mm)
are situated at the top of the main car park 700mm from the
ground
up; at the designated disabled parking area 700mm from the ground
up; at the Assistance bell at the designated disabled entrance
750mm from the ground up; on the designated disabled door 720mm
from the ground up; on the Reception desk adjacent to the call
bell 770mm from the ground up; in the link corridor 750mm from
the ground up; at the country club reception desk near the call
bell 750mm from the ground up. An automatic door is situated at the designated
rear entrance and at the entrance to the Country Club area via
automatic glass sliding
door width is 960mm.
There are emergency procedures in place
Flooring on all levels is either tiled, wooden
or contract style carpet.
There is a public telephone which is 1600mm high
from the floor with no seating available. The internet kiosk does
have seating
available which is removable and height of the desk is
775mm.
Lighting is variable across site.
Baby changing facilities are available in the Country Club
changing area, and the Terrace Restaurant. Door to disabled
WC is 960
mm wide.
Public Areas - WC
There is a specific facility designed for the disabled/ambulant
guest adjacent to the Country Club Reception. The width of the
door is 780mm.
It is reached via access through the partly carpeted/ tiled link
corridor from main Reception.
The toilet is situated on ground floor level.
The facilities are unisex.
There is an emergency pull cord and response provided.
Floor surface is tiled and the door is single leaf outward opening.
There is a horizontal rail to the inner side of the door to aid
closure if user is ambulant.
There is a grab rail and support rail.
The basin has a thermostatic mixer and lever tap.
Restaurant / Dining Room, Bar & Lounges, Take Away & Cafe
The lighting is diverse across site.
Flooring in food and beverage areas is a mix of tiled/ wooden flooring/contract
style carpet.
Tables and chairs are diverse but all are moveable, stable, some
with arms, some without.
Some tables have central support and others do not.
Upon request staff will assist with menu and price details.
All non smoking.
Purdeys and Hobsons are located on the ground floor and accessible
from the designated disabled access.
The Terrace Restaurant is accessible via an external stone paved
pathway and assistance is available when gaining access.
All our food and beverage outlets offer waitress service. Purdey's Restaurant
Width of entrance doors to Purdeys Restaurant from main Reception
is 2x800mm.
Access to Purdeys restaurant from doors adjacent to the designated
disable entrance is not recommended for ambulant guests as there
are two steps from the bar into the main restaurant.
Access to Hobsons bar is either via Purdeys Restaurant – door
width is 860mm or externally outside the front entrance – where
the width of the door to Hobsons bar is 960mm.
Hobsons disabled wc door width is 860mm.
Terrace Restaurant
Access to the restaurant is via a ramp from the car park and
via the automatic glass doors 890 mm wide.
Width of entrance door from the Terrace bar to the Restaurant
is 970mm.
The double glass doors from the Terrace bar to Health and Beauty
are 790mm x 2.
There is a carpeted ramp from the Terrace bar provided access
to the Terrace restaurant/WC/Health and Beauty. Wainwrights' Inn
Access to onto the patio area is via the entrance to the top car
park.
The designated disabled access is 730mm wide with ramp outside
and level access internally.
Access to the WC via the corridor is 730mm wide. Male WC entrance
door is 665 mm wide and male WC is 565 mm wide. Female WC entrance
door is 665 mm wide and female WC is 570 mm wide x 3.
Access is possible via the Chapel Stile apartment entrance door
which is 765 mm wide, then through the pub door 935 mm wide but
with a 50 mm step up.
Laundry
Laundry service is available on request via Reception and request
bags are available in hotel bedrooms and delivered back to hotel
bedroom.
Shop
There is a shop on site adjacent to Country Club Reception selling
a selection of gifts and souvenirs. The entrance to the shop is
open fronted. There is a small shallow ramp into the shop.
Treatment room/s
Treatment
rooms are accessed via the Terrace bar through a double glass door
and located within the Health and Beauty salon through
a single glass door the width of which is 750mm – assistance
is available upon request.
Access to treatment rooms – Treatment Room One, 630mm, Treatment
Room Two 720mm, Treatment Room Three 710mm, Treatment Room Four
710mm.
There is level entry through doors
The height of the couches are adjustable.
There are shower cubicles but there is no seating in the showers –seating
can be made available on request. However access to the shower
cubicles are via a single step 240mm.
There is seating available in the treatment room.
Full information regarding contraindications will be given upon
request.
Flooring is laminate.
Leisure Facilities
Access to the leisure facility is either internally via the link
corridor or externally via two sets of double glass doors the width
of which are 930mm.
There is a swimming pool, spa pool, sanarium, steam room and gym
open 7 am till 10 pm every day. The width of the door into the
sanarium is 680 mm, steam room 670mm and to the gym 960mm. All
have level access. Access to the spa pool is via 4 steps up at
an overall height of 530mm and 4 down into the spa pool with partial
handrail.
The corridor leading to the changing areas is 765mm wide. The door
widths into the female and male changing area are 765mm. The door
width to the gym is 900mm. Soft play area 600mm.
All facilities have changing areas which are large and have level
access throughout.
We have a separate changing facility for disabled guests and their
carers which is the specific facility adjacent to the Country Club
desk, details above.
Access to the pool is via graduated steps. There is one grab rail.
Gym equipment includes running machines, bikes, resistance weight
machines, cross trainer, step machine, rowing machine, free weights
and weight bench, Swiss Ball.

Outdoor Facilities
The Hotel is situated on 35 acres of undulating, woodland.
There are ornamental water features at low levels.
The speed restriction on site is 5 mph
Low level lighting is situated across the entire site.
Torches are available on request as is transportation around site.
Conference & Meeting Rooms, Banqueting, Clubs, Entertainment
There are 2 main conference rooms on ground floor level with suitable
access for disabled delegates and within the main hotel building.
The door width to Pillar room is 700mm and to Partners room 2x780mm.
Rooms are accessed via the designated disabled access.
Portable Induction Loops are available for both rooms.
Lighting is even but can be dimmed by organisers.
Please advise conference organisers in advance if any specific
services are required.
There are toilets available between the conference rooms.
The wheel chair accessible toilet is via the Country Club. Bedrooms
There is one fully accessible designated disabled bedroom on site
providing specific requirements such as wide and easy to open
entry door, wet room with grab rail and seat grab rails adjacent
to toilet. Outer door width is 850mm. Inner door width 850mm.
Wet room door width is 850. Bed height is 690mm. Dressing table
height is 750mm. Space between the bed and the wall is 1250mm.
Hanging rail height is 1670mm.
Additional Information
If you require any assistance at any time reception can be contacted.
The Duty Manager can be contacted at any time.
There are evacuation procedures – a member of staff will
come to your room to assist with any evacuation process.
All Front of House staff have regular training in Disability Awareness.

A strong reading lamp available on request
All Housekeeping staff have been trained with regard to aiding
privacy in bedrooms.
There is good network coverage for Vodaphone and Orange.
