2-night Women's Walking Hotel Break

2-Night Midweek Ladies Only Walking Break at The Langdale Hotel

Dates for 2008 to be confirmed

Join qualified Mountain Leader as she leads our ladies only walking holidays in the Langdale Valley. These breaks combine the pleasure of walking with the luxury of the Langdale Hotel and Country Club. The walks will be of no more than 8 miles in distance and a total ascent not exceeding 500m. The walks are of a gentle pace with lots of stops to admire the scenery and take photographs.

The day will start with a full English breakfast followed by a days walking to Stickle Tarn. After a picnic lunch (provided) you will then enjoy afternoon tea at the Old Dungeon Ghyll Hotel. On returning to the Estate you can relax with full use of the facilities in the Country Club and maybe treat yourselves to a Health & Beauty Treatment before dinner in our award-winning Purdeys Restaurant.

Day 1 - Arrive and have full use of all the facilities. Enjoy dinner in the evening

Day 2 - After breakfast, enjoy an action packed day out in the Langdale Valley with Polly.

Day 3 - Enjoy breakfast before checking out of hotel, and then head out for another days walking. Return to Langdale mid-afternoon before departure.

Essentials (information from www.walkingwomen.co.uk )
• Walking Boots - Leather or waterproof fabric, must already be broken in.
• 2 or 3 pairs of walking socks. Blisters can be avoided by wearing a thin sock underneath (not cotton).
• Waterproof anorak and trousers
• Extra fleece or sweater
• A thin top for when it gets hot walking.
• Trousers loose enough not to restrict your movement, and maybe shorts for hot weather. Jeans are not recommended.
• Gloves, hat, neck warmer or ear warmer, especially in spring and autumn, but can be needed in wind on higher walks.
• Rucksack to carry spare sweater, waterproofs, packed lunch, water bottle, and other bits and pieces.
• Good sized water flask or a plastic water bottle. A Platipus or similar water system is also very handy.
• Sun screen; Sun hat in summer if you use one.
• Walking poles - not essential, but good for balance on uneven ground and they reduce wear to your knees.
• Large plastic bag to put inside your rucksack to keep the contents completely dry.
• The following are not essential but are useful; Camera, spare film and batteries. Binoculars maybe. A foam mat to sit on - from camping/outdoor shops.
• Torch
