At Langdale every day is different.  The Estate is home to a hotel & timeshare resort, spa, 4 food and beverage outlets and brimstone – a 16 room boutique hotel.  So with 600 guests and 200 members of staff on the Estate there is always something to do.  Langdale is like a home to many people and in fact for about 70 members of staff, who live on site it is their home. Receptionist

 

The Langdale Estate – 4 star hotel, timeshare resort, spa, 4 bars and restaurants and brimstone a 16 bedroom boutique hotel, a set in 35 acres of woodland in the heart of the Lake District.

 

We require somebody to join our team on a busy reception, which covers the Langdale hotel & timeshare.  Experience is preferred but training will be given on all aspects of the role.  You must believe in and be able to provide first class customer service and should be highly organised with good communication skills, both face to face and over the phone.  As with any reception role, the ability to multi task is essential.

 

It is also important you are a good team player, as well as able to work on your own initiative when necessary. As the first point of contact for guests, your excellent communication skills and polite manner will make an immediate impression.

 

The role includes all general reception duties including answering switchboard, taking reservations, liaising with all departments, dealing with guest queries etc.  This is a full time, permanent position, 39 hours over 5 days out of 7.  Will include evening and weekend work.

Assistant Maintenance Manager

 

The Langdale Estate is set in 35 acres of woodland & waterways in the heart of the Lake District.  The Estate comprises a 56 bedroom hotel, 16 bedroom boutique hotel, 100 timeshare units, 2 Restaurants & bars and traditional Lakeland pub.

 

The Assistant Maintenance Manager is responsible for ensuring the maintenance team operates efficiently and reliably under the guidance of the Maintenance Manager, to enable cover across all our properties.  The Maintenance team care for both commercial and domestic properties, including our 56 bedroom hotel, and 100 self catering properties.

 

This position requires a skills based approach with experience of working within a team, ideally you will have a trade background but will also have demonstrated successful management and leadership skills.  Experience of having implemented refurbishment and/or maintenance programmes is also required.  Implementation of preventive and predictive maintenance programs is essential. Must have a sound working knowledge of safety regulations and safety requirements for the safe execution of maintenance practices and activities.

 

Key responsibilities are:-

 

• Key interface to all projects and participates as a team member

• Manage a team of 9 maintenance engineers on a daily basis

• Review scope of work of projects

• Prepare preliminary and final cost estimates

• Review status during project design/drafting development

• Some knowledge and experience of engineering disciplines (i.e. Mechanical, Piping, Civil, Structural, Instrumentation and Electrical)

• Strong leadership, organizational and communication skills

• Proven ability to work in and lead diverse teams, decision making skills, as well as the ability to plan & organize work

• Strong desire to accept additional responsibilities and advanced positions where appropriate.

Leisure Club Attendant / Receptionist

 

Langdale Hotel & Spa are looking for a customer focused person to join the team looking after the leisure area & spa.  The overall purpose of the role is to provide a high level of service and customer care to all users of the leisure club and spa.  The role is varied and includes being on the reception desk, looking after the pool and safety of all its users, cleaning the leisure club area, advising guests of spa treatments etc.  The successful candidate needs to have excellent customer service and communication skills, be organised, efficient and adaptable to the changing requirements of the role throughout the shift.  An interest in leisure clubs and beauty therapy would be an advantage.

Sous Chef

 

The Langdale Estate is set in 35 acres of woodland & waterways in the heart of the Lake District.  The Estate comprises a 16 bedroom boutique hotel, 56 bedroom 4*hotel, 100 5*timeshare units, 2 Restaurants, 2 bars, traditional Lakeland pub and Leisure Club and Spa.

 

We are looking for a Sous Chef to help run one of our kitchens under the guidance of the Head Chef.  You will be passionate about food with a desire to make creative, quality dishes.  We generally have about 600 guests on site at any one time, and it is the job of all our kitchens to provide a wide variety of food that will encourage our guests to visit the restaurants time and time again.

 

As well as helping the Head Chef with the day to day running of the kitchen and deputising in their absence, we need the Sous Chef to help encourage, guide, mentor and instil a sense of pride in junior team members.

Commis Chef

 

We are looking a committed Commis Chef with proven experience in a busy kitchen to join the team at Langdale. Working in one of the Estates 3 kitchens – Purdeys, Terrace or Wainwrights, there is opportunity to learn and develop your skills. The ability to be flexible would be an advantage. Langdale has a strong training record and is keen to help people progress in their career.

 

Qualifications would be an advantage but NVQ training will be offered where appropriate. It’s vital that you have a passion & drive to help create locally sourced, quality food.

Food & Beverage Assistants

 

Food & beverage assistants required to assist in all 3 of our food outlets. We are looking for people who have excellent customer service skills, the ability to work as a team or as an individual and to be flexible to assist in any outlet. The work will include taking orders, serving food, bar work. Experience of working either in a 1 or 2 rosette restaurants or with real ales would be an advantage. On job training will be given and the opportunity to take NVQ’s or other outside training will be available.

Chef de Partie

 

We are looking for a Chef de partie for Purdeys Restaurant, the Langdale Estate’s 2 AA rosette restaurant. Working within an enthusiastic, committed team, you will ideally have experience at two rosette level, and have passion & drive to help create locally sourced, quality food as well as an eagerness to learn & develop your knowledge.

 

This role will suit a strong Demi Chef de Partie with the ability to multi task and also develop their skills or a Chef de Partie wishing to expand their skills. Excellent organisation and communication skills are essential especially when under pressure. The ability to supervise and guide junior members of the brigade would be an advantage. There are two other kitchens on the Estate, so flexibility and adaptability when needed would be useful to ensure that all kitchens operate at their highest potential.

Part time Lodge Cleaner

 

Langdale is set in 35 acres of woodland and waterways in the heart of the Lake District. We are a timeshare and hotel resort, with spa, 4 food and beverage outlets and we’ve just opened a brand new 16 suite hotel which is beyond boutique – brimstone.

 

We are looking for people to help with the cleaning of our 100 timeshare lodges. Change over days are on a Friday, Saturday & Sunday. An eye for detail and a desire to do a good job is required. The ability to work to deadlines is essential as all lodges check in at 4pm.

 

Work is either done individually or in small teams. Previous experience would be useful but full training will be given. Hours of work are 9.30am to 4pm with 30 minutes for lunch. We can offer 1, 2 or 3 day contracts and extra work during the week may be available. These positions are permanent and transport is provided from the Kendal, Windermere & Ambleside areas.
